ANU x Ambush Mural, "Take UP SPACE"
"Game On" is a new student space opening up at The Australian National University. I was invited, along with four other arists, to produce a mural piece for the new space. My mural is entitled "Take. Up Space" championing feminism. It is a call to reclaim spaces that have been and continue to be dominated by cis gendered white men. Illustrated in bold colours, the warped characters are intended to emulate and promote feminine power and strength. Capturing both the familiar and unfamiliar, the work invites its audience to identify with its characters while simultaneously reimagining how femininity is understood and performed. The combination of red and pink juxtaposes the “unconventional” displays of feminine power, and thereby challenges gender norms.
